Deep Observation:
The 5 Element Theory and Restorative Yoga
Every yoga pose stimulates the organs in our bodies through moving energy through specific channels or meridians along our muscles and connective tissue. Every organ is ruled by one of the 5 elements (air water earth wood fire) as observed by healers and Chinese doctors for centuries.
Eastern medical theory is based on our relationship to the environment we live in and the micro climate created by our own minds and bodies. Basic knowledge of the organ channels and the 5 elements can be of great benefit to yoga teachers. Knowing what asana stimulates what channel can take students and teachers into connecting with and healing the body in a deeper way. Because restorative yoga is about careful observation and experiencing the body through supported asana, there is time to consider the relationships in each pose.
It is fun and interesting to work with awareness of the eastern system as it is another piece of the puzzle of what makes us feel the way we feel.
This workshop will be very experiential and fun. You will get to observe and experience the yoga poses and make connections for yourself. A lot of emphasis will be placed on making sure that each pose will be set up with detailed attention to supporting the body.
Join Jane and Tiffany Loney for an unforgettable experience in Bali.
This 12 day retreat will start in Candi Dasa, in beach bungalows on the Indian Ocean and we will wind our way inland to Ubud and then to the mellow Munduk mountain village. From the sea to the mountains, we will practice yoga and sit in serenity in beautiful settings to start each day. The treks and explorations through Balinese nature and cultre will be led by healers, story tellers and artists each afternoon. There will be plenty of time to swim and soak in healing waters each day and the food will be fresh and glorious.
